Family Practice/Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM 8:00 PM, seven days a week

Position Summary

NextCare is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Cedar Park, TX .

This role is ideal for an experienced APP who enjoys variety, clinical autonomy, and making a meaningful impact in the community while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.

You ll be supported by experienced clinical teams, strong peer relationships, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership who provide real-time guidance and mentorship. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that keep skills sharp without the pressure of inpatient follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
• Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
• Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, and incision and drainage
• Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
• Code and bill services appropriately
• Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
• Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience
• NP candidates must be certified through ANCC or AANP as a Family Nurse Practitioner
• PA candidates must maintain active NCCPA certification
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain
• Ability to treat patients of all ages
• Active BLS certification
• EHR proficiency
• Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
• DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; applicable fees are covered

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
• Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D
• Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
• Comfortable practicing independently within scope in a fast-paced clinical setting
