Banquet Server ("Mesero/a de Banquetes")

Job Details: Job Location: Le Meridien Element Salt Lake City Downtown – Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Position Type: Temporary. Salary Range: $7.00 - $7.00 Hourly. Job Shift: Any. Position Purpose To serve banquet guests food and drink over multiple courses at the level of service established by management and to assist the banquet process at all stages of a function from setup to breakdown. Hourly rate + service charge Essential Responsibilities Serves guests food and drinks during events as required. Can answer questions related to buffet or menu. Bus and set tables, including condiments as needed. Assists with event room set‑up (set tablecloths, dishes, silverware as needed). Checks all china, glassware, silverware, and linen items needed for the event. Awareness of all upcoming groups and major conventions. Reads all assigned banquet menus and asks if specific items are unclear. Ensures food is served at the appropriate temperature and that the entrée is placed properly on the table. Responsible for the proper handling of all equipment (china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and ensures proper storage after use. Participates in the deep cleaning of the outlet. Assists all guests professionally and courteously with the highest quality of standards for customer service. All other duties assigned by manager or supervisor. Supportive Functions Assist with any guest inquiry. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures. Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect supervisors. Physical Demands Environmental conditions are inside; staff spends approximately 75% or more of the time inside. Must work in extreme temperatures such as freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F) for one hour or more. Must stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to four hours. Must maneuver between simultaneous functions. Must operate in limited space and reach other departments on time. Must lift up to 45 lbs. as needed. Must push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, smelling, tasting, and visual acuity. Must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10‑key adding machine, multi‑line touch‑tone phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, photocopiers, dolly, and other necessary office equipment. Knowledge & Skills Must speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace. Good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Excellent leadership capability and customer relations skills. Detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills. Basic computer and computational abilities. Ability to analyze, foresee user needs, and make judgments to ensure proper tools are provided at property level. Effectively deal with internal and external customers requiring patience, tact, and diplomacy; collect accurate information to resolve conflicts. Knowledgeable about basic functions of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS. Self‑driven and able to work independently. Strong issue resolution and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail. Knowledge of table and bar service and appropriate table settings and service ware. Ability to describe all menu items and methods of preparation. Education High school or equivalent education required. Experience 1 to 3 years of high‑volume banquet service experience required. Hotel/resort banquet experience preferred. Certificates Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol. Safe Server Alcohol & Food certification required. Grooming All staff members must maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance per Azul Hospitality standards. Refer to the property‑specific grooming and uniform standards policy.
