Preferred qualifications Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant fields, or a Professional Engineering (PE) license. Experience in designing complex modular building‑scale assemblies, with an understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis. Knowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles with a focus in the areas of design for medium‑scale production, structural beams/elements, and international building codes. About the job Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department—cutting‑edge strategies are born, tested and refined again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics such as how we use power or how to run state‑of‑the‑art, environmentally‑friendly facilities. You are a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements— even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior‑level executives, and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements, and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). As a Data Center Services Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the field‑level implementation and operational support of Google’s expanding data centers. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and commissioning of complex HVAC and mechanical distribution systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, swiftly, and with high quality. You will manage site‑level mechanical engineering issues, ensuring compliance with design standards and local regulations, supporting quality assurance, and providing technical guidance to vendor teams. We are looking for a strong communicator and collaborator who has experience developing construction sites and with complex mechanical systems, ideally within facilities, heavy industrial, oil and gas, or semiconductor industries. Our team’s work keeps the architecture that powers Google’s services running smoothly, and we pride ourselves on engineering excellence. English proficiency is a requirement for all roles unless stated otherwise. Responsibilities Provide expert technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining mechanical system design requirements for multiple data center projects from inception to completion. Develop, implement, and manage the mechanical designs at the site level, starting from the basis of design through to the issuance of construction documents for new builds, infrastructure upgrades, and renovations. Collaborate with the Engineer of Record (EOR) to respond to site‑specific engineering Requests for Information (RFI) and ensure alignment between Google's requirements and the overall design. Work closely with the core engineering team to provide site‑specific requirements during the development of the Basis of Design (BOD) and coordinate system‑level schematics with the EOR. Own and manage site‑level mechanical/cooling system issues during project execution, and maintain comprehensive documentation of all data center‑related mechanical and cooling system design requirements. Compensation and Benefits The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $144,000‑$209,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Compensation details listed in US role postings reflect base salary only and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. EEO Statement Google is proud to be an equal‑opportunity and affirmative action employer. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing an equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, or related condition (including breastfeeding), expecting or parents‑to‑be, criminal histories consistent with legal requirements, or any other basis protected by law. #J-18808-Ljbffr Google Inc.
