JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide instructional and classroom support to maintain a positive safe and productive learning environment. Support student learning by implementing teacher-directed lesson plans encouraging student participation and providing appropriate supervision and assistance.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Hold a valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) teaching certification appropriate to the assignment when required by RIDE Preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and support student learning in a classroom setting.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and instructional directions provided by the classroom teacher and/or building administration.
• Ability to establish and maintain a positive safe and productive learning environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with students teachers administrators and other school personnel.
• Ability to utilize technology and instructional resources appropriate to the classroom assignment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position as evidenced by education teaching experience related educational experience and/or the interview process.
• Any such alternatives to the above qualifications as the committee may deem acceptable and appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities in accordance with District goals and classroom expectations.
• Maintain a positive and effective learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
• Organize and supervise students to support effective instruction.
• Maintain classroom management strategies and established classroom routines.
• Ensure the health welfare and safety of all students.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
• Follow and support all school and District policies procedures and regulations.
• Follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with students and staff.
• Promptly report student injuries accidents illnesses and discipline concerns to the appropriate administrator or designee.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the building administrator(s).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Per diem - $175/day
