Partnerships at Brex: The primary focus of the Partnerships team at Brex is to drive net new pipeline and revenue. We originate, launch, and scale partnerships across emerging distribution channels, embedded models, and other strategic bets that accelerate Brex's growth trajectory. As Brex nears $1B in revenue, we are building a best-in-class Partnerships organization grounded in clear priorities and disciplined execution. Every member of our team directly contributes to top-line growth by expanding Brex's reach across key ecosystems, from technology platforms to financial sponsors who influence large customer networks.Within Business Development, the Private Equity Channel team is responsible for building partnerships with PE firms to drive new customer growth, generate pipeline, and increase engagement and monetization of existing customers. Over the past 12 months, Brex's PE channel hit an inflection point, turning Tier 1 private equity firms into active referral sources for their portfolio companies due to demonstrable ROI. That model was proven through consistent in-market presence: dinners, conferences, events, and the trust that compounds across repeated value-added touchpoints. The channel is now at a critical scaling moment. With a proven playbook and a growing book of top-tier sponsor relationships, we are hiring a Director to take ownership of the entire PE channel — leading the team, sharpening the strategy, and raising the ceiling on what this channel can deliver. What You'll Do: We are hiring a Director, Private Equity Channel to lead and scale Brex's PE partnerships organization. Based in New York, you will own the full PE channel strategy: setting direction, managing and growing the team, holding the most senior sponsor relationships, and driving the referral engine that turns PE firms into durable, high-conviction distribution partners for Brex. This is a player-coach role for a senior operator who has both the relationship credibility to command a room with managing directors and the management instincts to build a team around them. You will inherit a functioning playbook and existing tier 1 partners, and your mandate is to manage these key relationships while building and scaling the team. Where You'll Work: This role will be based in our New York City office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work! Responsibilities: Hire, develop, and manage a team of Partner Managers across East Coast, West Coast, and emerging PE geographies, setting the bar for performance and career growth Own the PE channel strategy end-to-end — target firm prioritization, coverage model, engagement motion, and referral conversion — and identify new growth vectors across geographies, firm tiers, and portfolio models Build the internal case for channel investment and headcount, presenting performance and roadmap to senior leadership Personally own and deepen relationships with the most strategic Tier 1 PE firms, serving as escalation point and executive sponsor across the team's book Represent Brex across the PE ecosystem at premier industry events, dinners, and conferences Partner with Marketing on field events and content, and with Sales leadership on handoffs and referral-to-close conversion Drive internal alignment with Finance, RevOps, and Partnerships on channel prioritization and metrics infrastructure during planning cycles Requirements: 8–12+ years of experience in PE business development, financial services sales, partnerships, or a related senior role with consistent, demonstrable exposure to the private equity ecosystem. 4+ years of people management experience; track record of hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing BD or sales talent. Established senior-level relationships within the New York private equity community; credible with managing directors and partners at leading PE firms from day one. Proven channel builder — experience standing up or significantly scaling a partnerships motion, not just maintaining one. Strong commercial instincts; able to connect PE relationship activity to pipeline generation, ARR outcomes, and executive-level narratives. Excellent written and verbal communication; executive-ready in both internal stakeholder management and external partner engagement. High organizational acumen — able to manage a team, a personal book of relationships, and strategic workstreams simultaneously without dropping quality. Based in New York; comfortable being in-market regularly for dinners, events, and partner engagements. Self-directed and entrepreneurial; able to operate with high autonomy while maintaining tight alignment with Partnerships leadership. The expected OTE range for this role is $355,950 - $395,500. The starting wage will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. The OTE figure listed here includes base salary and commissions, which may or may not be earned depending on performance.
