Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise operations activities concerned in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Ensures that efforts in the areas mentioned above result in secure, safe, and reliable production of company goods. Opening on 1st shift.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes to satisfy our customers’ needs.

· Plan, direct, supervise, and perform duties within operations. This includes prioritizing tasks, supervising and directing, personnel, operating equipment, and performing physical labor.

· Reviews master schedule and work orders, establishes priorities, and revises schedule according to projects, work order specifications, established priorities, and availability of capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.

· Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as linear operators, laser operators, burn operators, production welders, and fabricators.

· Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to customer specifications.

· Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of product or services, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.

· Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems.

· Contribute to the completion and effectiveness of training plans, cross training, and training events.

· Assesses performance, monitors progress, and addresses employee issues and concerns.

· Support in mentoring, coaching, and guiding employees through challenges, tasks, and activities with the vision of motivating others to complete their job effectively.

· Ensures compliance of guidelines and objectives.

· Complete hourly quality checks and observe daily functions in operations.

· May assist other Managers or Supervisors in other duties or special projects as needed.

· Administration and Management : Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

· Transportation: Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods, including the relative costs and benefits.

· Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

· Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications.

· Safety and Security; Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety for the protection of people and property.

· Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.

· Making Decisions and Solving Problems: Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

· Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.

· Tools: Personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety glasses, etc.), computers, printers, scanners, and copiers.

· Technology: E-mail, ERP software, time management software, and Microsoft Office software.

Qualifications

· This particular position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); 5-7 years of prior experience; or a combination of education and prior experience.

Preferences

· Prior crane and forklift experience.

· Prior supervisory experience.

· Experience in the steel industry or with metals service center operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· This position is responsible for directing and supervising employees in production operations. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Working Environment and Conditions

· Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb up to 15 feet high, the employee is regularly required to be in a stationary position, reach with hands and arms, and be able to communicate verbally and in writing and take direction. The employee is frequently required to move about the buildings and be in a stationary position. The employee frequently operates heavy equipment and office equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position can expect overtime as work demands increase.
