About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) for a 13-week contract opportunity in Carbondale, Illinois. The RN will provide specialized perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures while supporting safe and efficient operating room operations.

Candidates must have strong CVOR / Operating Room nursing experience , an active Illinois RN license, and the ability to participate in required call coverage. Floating to clinically appropriate units may be required based on staffing and operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and other assigned surgical procedures.

• Perform patient assessments, prepare patients for surgery, and support safe intraoperative and immediate post-procedure care.

• Maintain sterile technique, follow surgical safety standards, and collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team.

• Monitor patient condition, respond appropriately to clinical changes, and ensure accurate documentation using Epic.

• Participate in required call coverage and float to clinically appropriate units within scope of practice, licensure, and demonstrated competencies.

Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License Required.

• Minimum 2 Years of Recent CVOR and/or Operating Room Nursing Experience Required.

• Current BLS/CPR Certification Required.

• Current ACLS Certification Required.

• Must Be Comfortable With Day-Shift CVOR Assignments, Required Call Coverage, Epic Documentation, and Clinically Appropriate Floating.

The CVOR Registered Nurse will provide skilled, patient-centered perioperative care while supporting safe and efficient cardiovascular surgical services.
