Description CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels (CSRH‑NB) is a full‑service, 94‑bed facility located in downtown New Braunfels, Texas. The hospital continues to expand to meet local population growth and offers innovative equipment and procedures, including an outpatient imaging center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care from diagnostics to open‑heart surgery. Summary This position performs all routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, result calculation, quality control, instrument operation and maintenance, development of new protocols, phlebotomy, and other patient‑oriented tasks as directed. Perform all routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the assigned primary section, ensuring age or sex‑specific values are considered. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment; perform minor repairs or notify Bio‑Med as necessary. Cross‑train to other laboratory sections as needed. Ensure the laboratory’s quality control program is properly followed. Calculate, enter, and/or verify results of laboratory procedures. Use the Laboratory Information System. Notify and document critical laboratory values obtained. Process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution, always mindful of minimal pediatric specimen volumes when required. Participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols. Perform assigned patient‑care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population‑specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department. Adapt assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age‑specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served. Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health. Complete all required compliance and regulatory tasks and follow applicable policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Education / Skills Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489 (including U.S. Military laboratory training courses of at least 50 weeks). Education evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or medical technology. Experience No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS or other organizations approved by HHS. One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, which must include a clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S. or within an accredited laboratory in the last five years. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications Must possess certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS. If the certification has an expiration date, it must be maintained and kept current. Louisiana requires state licensure. New graduates who are board‑certified or eligible must complete board certification within one year of hire (Louisiana excluded). Work Schedule Multiple shifts available.
