Security Guard Position

The Security Guard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and property within the assigned location. This position involves vigilant monitoring of premises to prevent theft, vandalism, and any unauthorized activities, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. The Security Guard will respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as necessary. Through regular patrols, surveillance, and access control, the guard helps to deter potential security threats and provides a visible security presence that promotes peace of mind. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall operational integrity and safety culture of the organization by proactively managing risks and fostering a secure atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• BLS Certification
• CPI Certification
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail
• Physical capability to perform patrol duties, including standing and walking for extended periods
• 2 years' experience as a Security Officer in a hospital setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• BHT Certification preferred
• Hospital/Psychiatric experience preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
• Ability to walk and climb stairs
• Skilled in operating portable radio devices
• Able to enforce security policy and procedures

The Security Guard utilizes keen observational and situational awareness skills daily to identify potential security risks and respond appropriately. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, visitors, and emergency personnel, ensuring clear and professional exchanges of information. Physical stamina and alertness enable the guard to conduct thorough patrols and maintain vigilance throughout shifts. Knowledge of security technology, such as surveillance cameras and alarm systems, supports proactive monitoring and rapid incident response. Additionally, problem-solving and decision-making skills are critical when managing unexpected situations, ensuring safety and compliance with established protocols.
