Dental Director

The Southeast Louisiana VA Health Care Network is dedicated to advocating for a whole health system of care in each of our Medical Centers. This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional healthcare that improves their health and well-being. *Key Responsibilities:* * Typical shift M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm, No Call * Travel of up to 25% required * Lead a growing dental program which serves about 70,000 Veterans. * Accountable and for effective and efficient management as well as the supervision of the dental program and services * Administrative, programmatic, clinical, and academic oversight of all dental program aspects to meet the needs of the Veteran population * Ensuring compliance with all accrediting organizations' standards that are applicable to dental * programs * Assures that performance measures are met, provides efficient management of resources and budgetary constraints, facilities a collaborative and collegial team environment, develops orientation and training of dental staff and identifies needs and concerns concerning the service * May qualify for the Education Debt Reduction Program (up to $200K over a 5-year period) *What We Offer:* * Competitive Salary: $290,000 - $318,000 * Generous Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potential 5-day paid absence for CME. * Retirement Benefits: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with up to 5% contributions by VA. * Comprehensive Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care, with many programs carrying into retirement. * Flexibility: No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. * Professional Development: Up to 5 days' paid leave and reimbursement of $1,000 per year. * Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided *Preferred Experience:* * Board Certified Dentistry required * Fellowship training and prior leadership experience preferred * Demonstrated scholarly activities (e.g. research, education, and publications) * Must be a U.S. Citizen.
