Plasma Processing Technician

Opportunity Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. You will report to the Assistant Center Manager. Responsibilities Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Store plasma units properly according to SOPs, including handling unsuitable plasma units and samples. Ensure accuracy of unit labeling by verifying that the pre‑printed label matches the dynamic label. Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs. Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures; prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation. Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately inform appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly; record variances. Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs. Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs. Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper‑immune programs at the center, if applicable. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures; promote safety in all actions. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information. May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business. May require bilingual skills, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to perform basic math calculations. Working Conditions Must understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions and basic guidelines. Will see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation. Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time; reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity. May be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood‑borne pathogens. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas. Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
