About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night and Day Rotation Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required. Minimum 1 year in a dedicated Neuro specialty ICU required. License: State nursing license required. Certifications: Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Must-Have: Competent in hourly neurological assessments. Experience with intracranial pressure management. Experience with external ventricular drains. Experience in subarachnoid hemorrhage management. Experience in post-thrombectomy management. Experience in post-craniotomy management. Description: This position requires a registered nurse specializing in neuro intensive care. The nurse will work in a high-acuity and fast-paced surgical ICU. The primary responsibility will be managing critically ill neuro patients. Common patient diagnoses include craniotomies for tumor resections, aneurysm clippings, and neuro primary trauma. Additional responsibilities may include management of embolic and hemorrhagic stroke patients and post-neurosurgery care. The nurse will be required to float to sister facilities as needed. Weekend coverage is part of the job. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2. Charting will be done using Epic. The work involves a comprehensive stroke care environment. All procedures and monitoring related to patient care will be performed in accordance with established protocols. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in various critical care skills including ventilator management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and procedural sedation. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams such as IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy is essential. This role involves participation in infection prevention and wound care management.
