Fund Accountant

Our client, a well-known Financial Services firm in New York, is looking for a Fund Accountant to join its team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee private equity fund accounting across the full fund lifecycle, from inception through realizations, exits, and distributions
• Manage and review fund accounting activities, ensuring accuracy across financial reporting, capital activity, and fund transactions
• Review and oversee work performed by an external fund administrator
• Analyze and resolve complex fund accounting issues independently
• Manage and direct a team of 4 offshore team members in India
• Review and oversee deal-by-deal carry waterfalls and related calculations
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely fund reporting
• Support the fund through key lifecycle events, including investments, exits, realizations, and distributions

Qualifications

• Extensive private equity fund accounting experience
• Strong understanding of the full private equity fund lifecycle, including exits, realizations, and distributions
• Strong experience with deal-by-deal carry waterfalls
• Experience reviewing and overseeing work performed by a fund administrator
• Prior team management or leadership experience preferred
• Experience managing offshore teams strongly preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently resolve complex accounting issues
• Self-starter who can operate independently with limited oversight or training
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to hit the ground running and take ownership of responsibilities
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be a good cultural fit within a collaborative environment
