Bakery Associate FT

Job Summary Assists in the daily operations of the bakery department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Responsibilities SERVICE (60%): Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated that will increase customer confidence and loyalty. Delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for on‑shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Offers product samples, answers product questions and assists customers in finding or suggesting products. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled. LEADERSHIP (20%): Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, fostering teamwork, and communicating company, department and job‑specific information. Adheres to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines. FINANCIAL (10%): Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports any discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Prepares, packages, labels and displays products for sale. Utilizes production planning tools to produce fresh products accurately and ensures discarding or markdown processes are followed to reduce shrink. Ensures proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY (10%): Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA and COOL, and DOA. Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner while securing removed items. Reinforces safety programs, inspects for unsafe conditions, reports to store management, and maintains safety training and equipment in good repair. Reports safety risk or illegal activity and ensures adherence to wage and hour policies. Disclaimer: Performs other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education N/A Preferred Education High School / GED Language Requirements English, Spanish Relevant Experience 0–3 years supervisory minimum Environmental Factors Retail – Bakery: Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, repetitive movements, reaching, carrying, lifting up to 250 lbs. Occasionally sitting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, climbing up to 10 ft. Working Conditions: Indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, wet/humid. Safety Risk Factors: Twisting, slippery or cluttered floor, hazardous equipment, exposure to sharp objects, loud noise, irritants, dust, fumes, sprays, cleaning solutions. Required Equipment: Cleaning supplies, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, material handling equipment (racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts), powered cutting equipment (slicers, saws, grinders, knives, ovens, stoves, rotisseries, fryers, steamers, provers, wrapping equipment). Personal Protective Equipment: Goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves, back brace. Lifting requirement: 35 lbs.
