Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS; PALS preferred Must-Have: Candidates must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies. Experience in trauma care is essential. Previous travel experience is preferred. Candidates must have 2-3 years in specialty. Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, mandated on day one. This is a pass/fail test. Holiday requests will be considered, but cannot be guaranteed. The ICU has 30 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios primarily of 1 to 2. Candidates are required to titrate drips including vasopressors and sedation. Charge nurse and house supervisor will be present 24/7; charge nurse does not take patient assignments. One unit technician is available for all 30 beds, primarily providing secretary work. An intensivist is available 24/7 in the ICU. Respiratory therapy staff is present in the ICU 24/7. Common equipment includes Hamilton vents. Telemetry monitors are GE branded, and RNs must interpret their own strips. Self-scheduling is subject to manager review; schedules are prepared approximately 6 weeks in advance. Travelers are the first to be floated if necessary. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Floating may include other units such as PCU, CICU, tele or med-surg units. Scrub color is navy. Candidates must understand the fast-paced nature of the unit. They should be open to asking questions and seeking assistance as needed. Teamwork is essential, and candidates should be able to work collaboratively with others. The unit is known for its robust interventional radiology activities. Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system in use is Cerner. Cancellation does apply to assignments of less than 13 weeks. COVID vaccination is required. NIHSS certification is also preferred.
