Overview Dockmaster – Department: Docks; Reports to: General Manager. The Dockmaster is the first point of contact for customers arriving by vessel and is responsible for the overall operation of the docks, including scheduling dockhands, coordinating with vessel captains, reservations, safety and cleanliness of the marina, fuel operations, providing the highest level of guest services, concierge, training of new team members, and securing the marina and vessels in inclement weather. Responsibilities Provide the highest level of customer service to vessels and expedite requests. Schedule and manage dockhands for marina duties such as securing boats, fueling, black water pump outs, connecting and monitoring utility services, and waste disposal; lead by example. Perform daily inspections of the docks; coordinate with maintenance on scheduling general repairs and maintenance to keep safety and cleanliness standards and to identify issues requiring maintenance, repair, or replacement. Operate motor and water vehicles and other mechanized equipment. Education and Experience Broad knowledge of marina operations, boat lifting, boat handling and towing, and equipment maintenance. Ability to manage and motivate staff. Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to relate to customers in a luxury environment. Understanding of common marina operational documents such as agreements, contracts, terms and conditions, marina regulations; ability to analyze them. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Must be able to independently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds. Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device in emergencies. Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, repetitive hand and arm movements, and occasional squeezing and overhead reaching.
