Staff Nurse - Emergency Department

Job Overview UPMC McKeesport is hiring a full‑time Staff Nurse to support the Emergency Department. The position has a rotating daylight and night schedule. Sign‑On Bonus $10,000 for Graduate Nurses. $15,000 for registered nurses with one or more years of experience. Candidates hired into a sign‑on bonus eligible role will be asked to make a two‑year work commitment to UPMC McKeesport. Responsibilities Actively engage in clinical development and/or RN residency program for new hires; request learning opportunities and use performance feedback to improve practice. Identify patient and family educational needs; provide basic education and support throughout the episode of care. Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the health care team; demonstrate cultural awareness and maintain safety in the workplace. Demonstrate basic knowledge of research and evidence‑based practice; participate in unit‑based journal clubs and identify quality improvement opportunities. Apply basic nursing knowledge within the Relationship Based Care framework, use the nursing process, communicate effectively in documentation, and showcase critical thinking about clinical, social, safety, and spiritual issues. Formulate patient‑focused plans of care, set priorities, and encourage continuous improvement of clinical practice. Accept increasing patient loads as professional development progresses and assist colleagues in service of patients and families. Provide care appropriate to patient age groups, applying knowledge of growth and development throughout the lifespan. Qualifications 0‑1 year experience. Completion of UPMC student nurse internship or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred. BSN preferred. Basic Arrhythmia Class and Critical Care Class for ICU Unit. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances NIH Certification within 6 months of hire for ED, CVU, ICU, and 4M units. CPR based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire. Licensure examination within six months of hire or one year of graduation. Act 33/34/73 required. ACLS and NIH Certification within 6 months of hire. ED, Critical Care Unit, Stepdown PALS within 6 months of hire. Crisis Management training within 60 days of hire. Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) required.
