SWIM INSTRUCTOR

Childcare Support Staff (Part‑time) Responsible for implementing program content, managing daily operations, and supervising the YWCA Preschool and/or School Age Programs. Meet the social‑emotional, physical, and developmental needs of individual children. Oversee both small and large groups of children simultaneously. Be dependable and flexible in a changing work environment. Uphold the mission of YWCA Central Maine. Have a good understanding of children’s growth and development. Qualifications Minimum of six months experience working with children. High School diploma or equivalency. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to pass the state licensing requirements for childcare workers (including SBI and DHHS check). Reliable transportation to and from work. CPR & First Aid Certified (or willingness to become certified). Certified Lifeguard (Part‑time) The lifeguard plays a significant role in the overall success and safety of YWCA aquatics activities. The position reports to the Health & Wellness Director and on‑duty pool supervisor(s). American Red Cross Deep‑Water Certified Lifeguard with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Must be able to work independently, possess knowledge of safety protocols, and be willing to work as part of a team. Must be at least 15 years of age. Must be able to successfully demonstrate the lifeguard course pre‑requisites and any other requested lifeguard skills at the facility during the interview stage. Swim Instructors (Part‑time) The swim instructor plays a significant role in the overall success and safety of YWCA Aquatic Department’s program activities. The position reports to the Health & Wellness Director and the Swim Lessons Coordinator. On‑the‑job training is available. Teach swim lessons to children and adults 6 months and up. Excellent client service and interpersonal skills. Enjoy working with children. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Prioritize water safety. Work independently and effectively as a team member. Willingness to be trained and certified as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Ensure compliance with YWCA safety standards, policies, and procedures, including COVID protocols and maintaining the cleanliness of the pool area.
