Behavioral Health Therapist

Chateau Health & Wellness

Job Description

Job Description

Therapist – Residential Mental Health & Substance Use Treatment

Chateau Recovery | Oakley, Utah

Chateau Recovery is seeking an experienced, compassionate therapist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This is an opportunity to do meaningful, clinically focused work within a nationally recognized residential treatment program serving adults with mental health, trauma, and substance use concerns.

Chateau has developed particular expertise in working with first responders, veterans, and other high-stress professionals , although our client population is not limited to these groups. Our therapists work with individuals who may be navigating trauma, PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, substance use, relationship challenges, occupational stress, grief, and other complex behavioral health concerns.

The Role

Our therapists carry a relatively low primary caseload of approximately 4–6 clients , allowing clinicians the time and space to develop meaningful therapeutic relationships and provide individualized, high-quality care. Therapists may also work secondarily with other clients within the program and participate in the broader therapeutic community.

This position combines individual therapy, group facilitation, treatment planning, family involvement, and close collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a primary caseload of approximately 4–6 residential clients.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy with an emphasis on trauma-informed, evidence-based care.
  • Facilitate a variety of therapeutic groups, including process groups, psychoeducational groups, experiential groups, and psychodrama.
  • Complete comprehensive clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on each client's needs, strengths, goals, and presenting concerns.
  • Continually evaluate client progress and adjust treatment strategies as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide trauma-focused treatment for clients experiencing occupational trauma, cumulative stress, critical incidents, grief and loss, substance use, and related behavioral health concerns.
  • Understand and appropriately address issues frequently encountered among first responders and veterans, including occupational culture, identity, hypervigilance, moral injury, family strain, reintegration, burnout, and barriers to seeking help.
  • Utilize evidence-based and trauma-focused modalities consistent with training and scope of practice. Experience with modalities such as EMDR, ART, Brainspotting, IFS, CBT, ACT, or other trauma-specific approaches is valued.
  • Work collaboratively with case managers, medical and nursing staff, trauma therapists, mentors, program staff, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings, clinical consultation, case review, and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate with families and other appropriate support systems when clinically indicated and authorized by the client.
  • Support clients in developing relapse-prevention, emotional-regulation, coping, communication, relationship, and self-leadership skills.
  • Assist clients in preparing for successful transitions from residential treatment into appropriate levels of continuing care and community support.
  • Complete timely, accurate, ethical, and clinically meaningful documentation in accordance with organizational, licensing, accreditation, and payer requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to a therapeutic community in which clients feel safe, respected, challenged, supported, and genuinely cared for.

Our Clinical Environment

At Chateau, therapy does not happen in isolation. We believe effective residential treatment requires the entire treatment team to understand the client and work toward shared clinical goals.

Therapists collaborate closely with case managers, medical and nursing professionals, frontline program staff, mentors, and leadership to understand what is happening with a client throughout the treatment experience—not simply during the therapy hour.

Our goal is to create an environment and culture that is genuinely conducive to healing, personal responsibility, connection, and lasting change.

Because our therapists maintain manageable caseloads, they have the opportunity to know their clients well, provide meaningful individual therapy, participate actively in treatment planning, and engage with the broader therapeutic community.

Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in clinicians who:

  • Are licensed or license-eligible as an LCSW, CMHC, LMFT, or equivalent behavioral health professional in Utah.
  • Have experience treating trauma, mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.
  • Are comfortable working with complex clinical presentations in a residential environment.
  • Can build rapport with individuals who may initially be guarded, skeptical of therapy, or accustomed to functioning in high-responsibility roles.
  • Understand—or are interested in developing expertise in—the culture and behavioral health needs of first responders and veterans.
  • Are confident facilitating both individual and group therapy.
  • Value clinical collaboration and enjoy being part of an integrated treatment team.
  • Balance compassion with accountability and are comfortable helping clients engage deeply in the treatment process.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, communication skills, professionalism, and ethical decision-making.

Experience working with first responders, veterans, trauma populations, or residential treatment is strongly valued but is not required. We are equally interested in seasoned clinicians with strong therapeutic skills who want to develop expertise working with these populations.
