Work Shift Day (United States of America) PRN, 630a - 4pm – Windy Hill Hospital Job Summary Functions under the direction of the Site Manager. The registered nurse is responsible for performing a wide variety of clinical procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative, as well as utilizing equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The nurse implements the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience, and provides patient care with an understanding of age‑specific needs, addressing biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and patient/family education needs. The nurse performs independent job functions. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Clinical Skills Completion of V‑ARU competencies. Provide pre‑ and post‑procedure care of patients for invasive, interventional and surgical procedures. Apply critical‑thinking skills and deliver patient care in complex, multiple‑problem patient care situations. Prepare and, when necessary, administer contrast according to patient weight and physician order. Administer conscious sedation per system policy and procedure. Prep the patient for procedure. Demonstrate sterile technique. Demonstrate IV administration competence and maintenance. Prepare trays and catheters for procedure. Quality and Patient Safety Verify patient ID using two identifiers (Armband, DOB, verbal identification). Verify front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker. Verify written order and seek clarification if unclear. Understand and comply with verbal order RBAC and perform necessary follow‑up with written order. Use and understand pre‑procedural verification / time‑out form when appropriate. Understand and comply with site/side marking when indicated. Job Responsibilities Must be flexible with hours to meet department needs. Work scheduled and on‑call hours if necessary. Know existing lines of communication and authority, handle communications properly, and be dependable, cooperative, and emotionally stable. Introduce self to patient and/or guardian upon entering room utilizing proper scripting. Transport patients as needed. Provide privacy and comfort for patient/customers. Assist with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations, and Performance Improvement. Complete necessary paperwork. Answer department phone using proper scripting. Complete chart reviews as needed. Perform QA/QC functions as needed. Assist in other Medical Imaging areas and, as needed, in other system‑wide departments. Maintain current successful completion of BLS and ACLS. Understand scope of service for Vascular Institute, VARU and Medical Imaging. Assist in in‑service/training for other Medical Imaging staff as appropriate. Review case with appropriate physician(s) as needed. Recognize that total patient care starts when the patient arrives at our facility and ends when the physician/patient have the imaging results. Meet Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines as needed. Coordinate daily schedule of patients. Maintain checking of the crash cart in assigned Medical Imaging areas. Patient Education Responsible for patient, family/support system education. Provide post‑procedural home‑care instructions as needed. Required Minimum Education Associates Nursing or Diploma (Registered Nurse) or Bachelors Nursing – Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support, or ACLS‑I – ACLS Instructor, or ACLS‑P – ACLS Provisional (180 days). BLS – Basic Life Support, or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support, or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor. RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN Multi‑state Compact. Required Minimum Experience Minimum of 3 years experience in Interventional Radiology. Cardiac cath experience is a bonus. Must be experienced in moderate sedation. ICU / CCU / ER or previous Cath Lab experience required. Required Minimum Skills Ability to read, write and speak English language. Ability to optimize the use of technology to support clinical care.
