Title: Enterprise Network Systems Administrator

Employment Type: Contract

Compensation: $45–$53 per hour

Location: Downey, CA 90242

Work Model: Hybrid schedule with shift flexibility required. Onsite training for 4–8 weeks initially; approximately 40 hours per week in a 24/7 environment.

Position Summary

The Enterprise Network Systems Administrator works under the direction of a Principal Network Systems Administrator Supervisor. The role maintains and secures computer systems and database networks, aligns network services with business goals, and uses critical thinking to resolve technical problems. Working with network professionals, IT staff, and employees, this administrator identifies system needs, oversees hardware and software installation, and maintains reliable network operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain computer networks and systems, including software, mainframes, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware.
• Install and configure network equipment, hardware, and software to meet operational needs and resolve technical issues.
• Work with network professionals and IT staff to update cybersecurity measures and virus protection software, protecting data and communications.
• Monitor computer systems and networks to identify problems and improve network performance.
• Use employee feedback to identify network and computer system needs, isolate issues, and oversee installation of new hardware or software.
• Resolve software and hardware configuration issues identified through user requests or system inspections.
• Communicate network issues to employees and management and help train new users.
• Prepare employee instruction manuals for navigating organizational networks when needed.

• Required technology skills: Cisco ATA, Cisco ACI, Cisco APIC, Cisco Prime, Cisco VoIP Call Manager, CACTI, eCloud, Elastic Search, ITM, Open NMS, nGenius, McAfee, MVISION, NetScout, SCOM, UTR, StruxureWare, SecureWorks WAF (WAN App FW) toolset, Wireshark, and Web CTRL.

Additional Skills Required

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with close attention to detail.
• Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio.
• Effective reading, written, and oral communication fluency in English.

Experience Required

• At least five years of progressively responsible IT experience covering networking services, common protocols, hardware, and Cisco technologies.
• At least three years within the last four years as a Network Systems Administrator or in a similar role.
• At least two years within the last four years in security monitoring.

Additional Experience Required

• Three years working with complex, large-scale network infrastructure, including Cisco enterprise or carrier-class routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls, wireless controllers/access points, and Cisco Nexus switches.
• Two years using enterprise monitoring tools such as OpenNMS, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco Prime Collaboration, NetScout nGenius, Route Explorer, Elastic Search, SCOM, vROPS, Secure Works, Dynatrace, Uptime Robot, IBM Tivoli, WebCTRL, CACTI, StruxureWare, and Cherwell.
• Two years using Windows servers, Linux servers, and IBM mainframe z/OS operating systems.

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or Computer Science. Additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Education Required

Required certification: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

Schedule and Location Requirements

Local candidates only. Candidates must be available for different shifts: morning, 6 a.m.–2:30 p.m.; swing, 2 p.m.–10:30 p.m.; and overnight, 10 p.m.–6:30 a.m. the next day. Hybrid work begins after completion of onsite training.
