Set-Up Machine Operator

Position Overview The Set‑Up Operator is responsible for set‑up, start‑up, and operation of converting machines. Responsibilities include operating machines to meet product requirements, troubleshooting equipment and product issues, performing quality checks, maintaining a clean work area, conducting trial runs, and assisting with maintenance and inspector duties. Job Responsibilities Set up and operate machines to meet product requirements Troubleshoot equipment and product issues Perform and document quality checks and testing Keep area clean and equipment in good working order Conduct trial runs, monitor machine workflow, and pack finished goods for shipping Perform minor mechanical repairs proactively Assist in preventive maintenance of all machines and auxiliary equipment Assist with all Inspector Operator functions including product inspection, packaging, area cleanup, quality testing, and operating machine through break times Communicate with maintenance and operators to ensure shift activities are documented and understood Anticipate potential issues after shift change and communicate shift activities verbally and in shift logs Shift Schedule Flexible 12‑hour and 8‑hour shifts (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) 2‑2‑3 schedule for 12‑hour shift, must work weekends and holidays 8‑hour shift schedules include 2nd shift (2:00 PM‑10:00 PM) and 3rd shift (10:00 PM‑6:00 AM) Qualifications & Requirements Experience in manufacturing and machine operation preferred but not required Technical and mechanical knowledge of bag/pouch machines preferred but not required Pouch/Bag making and film handling fundamentals preferred but not required Strong verbal and written communication skills Mechanical aptitude Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Organizational skills Knowledge of one or more of the following: extrusion, printing, slitting, lamination or converting processes Ability to read dimensional graphic templates in both metric and standard units Basic computer skills Physical Requirements Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs Standing up to 12 hours per day, rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days/week Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards Able to read/see up to 1/32 of an inch Benefits Medical, dental, and vision plans Paid time off, starting at 40 hours per year for full‑time hourly employees (may vary by location) Company‑paid holidays starting at 8 days per year (may vary by location) Well‑being programs & Employee Assistance Program Health Savings Account/Flexible Spending Account Life insurance, AD&D, short‑term & long‑term disability, and voluntary benefits Paid parental leave Retirement savings plan with company match Tuition reimbursement (dependent upon approval) Discretionary bonus program (initial eligibility dependent upon hire date) Equal Opportunity Employer Amcor is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
