Preschool Assistant Anchor Bay School District, Anchor Bay Early Childhood Center, New Baltimore, Michigan Job Details Job ID: 5820593 Application Deadline: Dec 31, 2026 3:30 PM (Central Standard Time) Posted: Jul 07, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Position Type: Part-Time Hours: Tuesday & Thursday 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Job Description Posted until filled Location Early Childhood Center Department Early Childhood Qualifications 18 years old & High School graduate Associates degree in early childhood education or CDA preferred Successful previous experience working in an Early Childhood Program Willingness to attend Professional Development classes (all employees must complete 16 hours annually) Training and up-to-date knowledge in first aid and CPR Obtain clearance from Family Independence Agency for Child Protective Screening Obtain successful Criminal Clearance Check through Michigan State Police Approved Electronic Fingerprints High School/Trade School degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work visa required Essential Duties and Responsibilities Engage all students at their own level in the Active Learning hourrocess Encourage an Active Learning Environment appropriate for the developmental level of the students Provide positive Adult-Child Interactions at all times Maintain a pleasant classroom atmosphere Demonstrate Positive Classroom Management Maintain classroom and materials in a clean & safe manner Assist with the overall appearance and condition of the Early Childhood center Report broken or damaged items to the office Assist teacher in assessing classroom environment using PQA as requested Assist with classroom set-up and preparation Greet children and engage in conversations at the beginning of & throughout each class in a warm and caring manner Complete necessary prep work for projects and activities Must be able to assist & supervise children to & from the restrooms, including assisting with bathroom accidents, diaper changing and toilet training. Conduct small group activities according to teacher directions Maintain classroom toys in a clean and orderly fashion including sanitizing before returning to storage Put chairs on top of tables at the end of the day Prepare children’s cubbies for going home notes, papers, projects, etc. Prepare snack & snack menu Assist teacher in any other duties or responsibilities necessary to operate a successful classroom Regular and reliable attendance in person is an essential job function. Assure that all children’s records are complete and meet licensing regulations Copying, laminating, book binding, die-cutting as requested by teacher Assist in clerical duties, as needed Implementing the Teaching Strategies Objectives for development and learning. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Other Skills and Abilities Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
