Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineer

Salary: $229,900 - 286,200 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, or a related quantitative field, such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering
• At least 6 years of programming experience with Python, Java, Golang, or C++
• At least 6 years of machine learning experience with industry-standard frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn
• At least 6 years of experience using and operating large-scale distributed systems, such as Spark or Ray, to prepare AI/ML data
• At least 4 years of experience deploying and operating machine learning solutions in production, running cloud-based production services (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and using Kubernetes to manage large-scale containerized ML systems
• Preferred: Masters or doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a related field
• Preferred: 5 or more years of experience optimizing ML algorithms, configurations, and infrastructure
• Preferred: 5 or more years applying software development practices such as source control, testing, code reviews, and CI/CD
• Preferred: 5 or more years building resilient software solutions with pre-production testing, advanced deployment methods, monitoring, alarms, and incident response plans
• Preferred: 5 or more years working with machine learning techniques, model types and architectures, training concepts, and methods to evaluate accuracy and diagnose issues such as underfitting and overfitting
• Preferred: 5 or more years designing, implementing, and scaling production-ready data pipelines for training and evaluating ML models
• Preferred: ML industry contributions through conference presentations, papers, blog posts, open-source work, or patents
• Preferred: Ability to clearly explain complex technical and machine learning concepts to varied audiences

• Design, build, and deliver machine learning models and components that address business problems in collaboration with Product and Data Science teams
• Build and scale multi-tenant platforms for large-scale machine learning training and serving
• Apply knowledge of ML modeling techniques and challenges to infrastructure decisions, including model, data, and feature selection, training, tuning, dimensionality, bias and variance, and validation
• Solve complex problems by writing and testing application code, developing and validating ML models, and automating testing and deployment
• Collaborate with a cross-functional Agile team to create and improve software for advanced big data and machine learning applications
• Retrain, maintain, and monitor models in production
• Use or build cloud-based architectures, technologies, and platforms to deliver optimized ML models at scale
• Build optimized data pipelines to supply machine learning models
• Apply continuous integration and deployment practices, including test automation and monitoring, to support successful deployment of models and application code
• Manage code to reduce vulnerabilities, govern models for risk, and follow Responsible and Explainable AI practices

The listed annual salary ranges are $229,900–$262,400 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and McLean, Virginia, and $250,800–$286,200 in New York, New York; San Francisco, California; and San Jose, California. Pay for other locations depends on the applicable location range, and the offered amount will be stated in the offer letter. The role may also include performance-based incentives, such as cash bonuses or long-term incentives.
