The organization operates multiple manufacturing facilities across the United States and supports large-scale commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects nationwide.This is a hands-on accounting position with significant exposure to fixed assets, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory, revenue recognition, and operational accounting. The individual will work closely with both finance and operations and will have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly complex areas of the balance sheet.The position can be structured at either the Staff or Senior Accountant level, depending upon experience. At the Staff level, the role will have a heavier concentration in fixed assets and CAPEX. At the Senior level, responsibilities will expand into broader close ownership, balance sheet reconciliations, technical accounting, and audit support.Key ResponsibilitiesFixed Assets & CAPEXTake ownership of key aspects of the company's fixed asset and CAPEX lifecycleRecord asset additions, disposals, transfers, impairments, and depreciationMaintain and reconcile fixed asset and construction-in-process accountsReview maintenance, expense, and capital accounts for potential CAPEX/OPEX misclassificationsPrepare adjusting journal entries and monthly CAPEX reportingPartner with plant personnel and operational stakeholders regarding capital expenditures and capitalization criteriaMonth-End Close & General AccountingSupport the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare and upload journal entries, accruals, and other period-end adjustmentsPerform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, payroll, cash, debt, inventory, and other assigned accountsPrepare P&L fluctuation and variance analysesMaintain clear, professional workpapers and accounting documentationAssist management in resolving accounting and financial reporting issuesManufacturing & Revenue AccountingSupport accounting for inventory and manufacturing operationsAnalyze project revenue, costs, and profitability to support appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606Assist with percentage-of-completion/project-based accounting where applicablePartner with operations to understand underlying business activity and ensure accurate financial reportingAssist with physical inventories and related reconciliationsAudit, Controls & SystemsSupport external audits and serve as an important internal resource throughout the audit processMaintain accounting processes in accordance with GAAP and established internal controlsDocument key accounting policies and proceduresParticipate in the development, testing, and implementation of accounting systems and reporting toolsSupport ongoing Microsoft Dynamics / ERP initiativesAssist with budgeting, forecasting, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysisIdeal BackgroundBachelor's degree in Accounting requiredCPA or CPA track strongly preferredPublic accounting experience is highly desirable, particularly candidates coming from a mid-sized, regional, national, or Big Four audit environmentFor Senior-level consideration, an ideal candidate may have recently completed their first busy season as a Senior and had responsibility for managing significant portions of an audit engagementCorporate accounting candidates with strong manufacturing experience will also be consideredExperience with inventory, fixed assets, CAPEX, or manufacturing accounting highly desirablePercentage-of-completion/project accounting or ASC 606 exposure is a plusStrong month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation experienceMicrosoft Dynamics experience is a significant plusStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial controlsAdvanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IFERROR, pivot tables, and related accounting functionsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with finance, operations, plant personnel, auditors, and senior leadershipIdeal Public Accounting ProfileFor candidates coming directly from public accounting, the strongest fit will be someone with a true audit-focused background who has worked with larger, complex, or manufacturing-oriented clients.Candidates who have managed portions of an audit engagement, developed professional workpapers, tested balance sheet accounts and internal controls, and interacted directly with client accounting teams should transition particularly well.A heavily tax-oriented background or experience concentrated primarily in nonprofit audits would be less directly aligned with the responsibilities of this position.What Makes This Opportunity AttractiveThis is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who wants to move beyond transactional accounting and gain broader exposure to a sophisticated manufacturing organization.The role provides exposure to fixed assets, inventory, operational accounting, ASC 606, month-end close, audit, ERP implementation, and multiple areas of the balance sheet, creating a strong foundation for continued advancement within corporate accounting.For someone coming from public accounting, it offers a particularly strong entry point into industry while continuing to use the analytical, audit, GAAP, and financial statement skills developed in public accounting.Bottom Line: This is a hands-on Staff/Senior Accountant opportunity for someone who wants meaningful ownership, exposure to complex manufacturing accounting, and the ability to grow within a large, established organization.
