A day in this role

Your workday starts at 2:30 pm in our Savanna, IL toolroom. You’ll review blueprints, set up a lathe or milling machine, and begin crafting or repairing precision components to exact tolerances. Throughout the shift, you’ll keep equipment dialed in, troubleshoot issues as they arise, collaborate with teammates, and uphold strict safety, environmental, and quality standards. Before handing off at 11:00 pm, you’ll document what you ran, what you learned, and what’s ready for the next cycle.

• Schedule: 2nd Shift | Monday – Friday | 2:30pm – 11:00pm
• Compensation: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour (based on experience) + $2.00/hour 2nd-shift premium
• Location: HF (7034 IL Route 84, Savanna, IL 61074)
• Reports to: Tooling Manager

• Run manual equipment—lathes, mills, and grinders—to fabricate, assemble, and repair precision parts
• Translate blueprints and engineering specifications into accurate setups and finished dimensions
• Set up, maintain, and service shop equipment to keep operations safe, efficient, and reliable
• Escalate equipment or part nonconformances quickly so issues get resolved
• Follow Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures without exception
• Coach less-experienced teammates and share best practices
• Tackle other duties as assigned to support the operation

• Fluency in reading and applying work instructions, technical drawings, blueprints, and process documentation
• Self-starter mindset—able to work independently and see tasks through without constant supervision
• Clear, respectful communication and strong relationship-building with peers and internal customers
• Meticulous attention to detail and a quality-first attitude
• Sound analytical thinking and practical problem-solving
• Comfort with computer-based tools and technical applications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of machining experience in a metal manufacturing setting, including blueprint interpretation
• You know—and can explain—what “making chips” means
• Consistent employment history with minimal gaps
• Proven reliability and punctuality to support production schedules and team success
