SALARY : $17.00/hour

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides supervision and care for children and parents, transporting of children and or parents to parental visits, day care, home visits, medical appointments and to other community resources.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ( The following are illustrative of essential functions to perform duties and responsibilities of the job.  The position may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional tasks as needed by the Department. • Observes and monitors supervised visitations per visitation guidelines. Intervenes and /or redirects parents or children during supervised visitations to insure safety of children.
• Supervises and provides transportation to and from child and parent visitations.
• Must be able to handle aggressive or upset children to maintain order and control.
• Must be able to work positively with clients, other agencies, and the public. 
• Maintains contact with Caseworker, Supervisor and other professionals involved in the case to coordinate services. Receives assignments from Supervisor and or Caseworker for services to be provided to client.
• Makes referrals to protective services for children when abuse or neglect is suspected.
• Position maintains and keeps records of all case aide activities in computer system and provides reports of supervised visitations to Supervisor and Caseworker.
• Coordinates appointments between client and foster parents and keeps records of transportation services provided. 
• Position requires an extensive amount of driving both in-state and out of state. 
• As a mandatory reporter makes referrals to protective services for children when abuse or neglect is suspected.
• Position requires flexibility of or modified work schedule as required to meet job duties or assignments.
• This position spends 50-75 percent of time in the field conducting supervised visits, transports, home visits, and other ancillary functions as assigned by Supervisor.
• This position may require some overnight travel to conduct transportation of children and parents, training or meetings.
• Hotline Screener during regular work hours to receive reports of child abuse and neglect as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge :

• Knowledge of child development.
• Knowledge of appropriate and various parenting methods and conflict resolution techniques
• Knowledge and use of extensive community resources and services
• Efficiently communicate in English both written and verbal
• Write correspondence and memos
• Proper documentation as required by program
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Skills:

• Skills in role modeling, instructing, demonstrating, and interacting with parents and children.
• Computer skills adequate to perform work tasks
• Learn and operate software specific to DHS

Abilities :

• Ability to follow policies and procedures of the County and DHS
• Ability to work well in a team or work independently as required
• Ability to perform the physical requirements listed below
• Ability to follow a work schedule as set by supervisor or program
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License required.
• Obtain 6 hours of Hotline Screener Training
• Maintain 10 hours of Child Welfare In-Service Training annually. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORK CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Minimal physical effort generally required in the performance of duties under typically office conditions. Position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard at an efficient speed. This may involve repetitive hand movement and find coordination.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The position is required to stand, sit for long periods of time, talk and hear. Hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges; close-up vision and the ability to adjust focus across an audience.  Occasionally, the position may stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, carry, twist and push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.  The employee is required to communicate both orally and in writing. Employee must be able to reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls, drive, and lift (up to and including 25 pounds). The noise level may be very quiet to noisy depending on the situation.  On occasion it may be required to drive in a variety of weather conditions both locally and throughout the state.
