Security Guard - Level II Certification Job ID: 5688465 Application Deadline: Jul 31, 2026 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time) Posted: May 04, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Reports To: Chief of Police Duty Days: 187 Days Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: A04 Date Revised: 09/2024 Qualifications College hours, high school diploma or GED (preferred) Texas Driver License and available transportation Level II security commission from the Texas Commission on Private Security Ability to record information Ability to follow verbal and written instruction Ability to work effectively with students Ability to communicate effectively Working knowledge of personal and property security techniques and electronic security systems Possesses skills and interest in working within an educational environment Possesses the sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with adolescents Previous experience as a security guard preferred Primary Purpose Under direct supervision, provide security and protection for students, campus personnel, patrons, and district property. Major Duties and Responsibilities Assist in protection of students, staff, and district property. Serve as a security resource to students and campus personnel. Establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with faculty and law enforcement personnel serving the school community. Identify unauthorized persons who come within the boundaries of the campus and verify their authority. Report all criminal offenses, originating on assigned campuses, to the district’s police department. Prepare and file all appropriate reports. Appear in court and/or hearings as a witness or complainant when appropriate. Provide a general and consistent adult presence at critical locations during school related events. Provide a random security patrol on assigned campus. Coordinate security services with Katy ISD police personnel. Provide appropriate assistance during disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. (where Katy ISD personnel are required). Through the standard chain of command, inform the chief of police of all conditions that effect safety and security of students, staff, and district property. Equipment Used Two-way radio, CCTV, personal computer, and alarm systems Working Conditions Maintain emotional control and professionalism under stress; prolonged standing; strenuous walking and climbing of stairs; moderate lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds. Able to physically respond to emergencies, control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations, work outdoors in varying climate conditions.
