Summer 2027 Audit Internship

Description

The purpose of this position is to be a part of a collaborative and engaging Internal Audit department of an award-winning organization! The Audit Intern will develop an understanding of the role of internal auditors in an organization. This position will perform internal control monitoring and assist with internal audits of operations. You will benefit from exposure to all levels of company management and to the daily operation of our company. This opportunity will provide insight into many areas of the company, particularly purchasing and accounting. Compensation for this position is $18.00/hr. WaterOne's summer internship program runs from May 17, 2027 until August 6, 2027.

Essential Functions

• Maintains a general knowledge of auditing principles.
• Performs internal control monitoring of various processes at WaterOne, looking for control deficiencies and red flag areas that will require additional research
• Assists with internal audits, including planning, fieldwork and report writing.
• Participates in meetings with management to discuss risks and controls.
• Contributes to other projects that arise.
• Performs annual reviews of all department standard operating procedures.
• May assist the Legal department with special projects, as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience

• Must at a minimum be pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and current enrollment in a degree program related to Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently, meet deadlines, work independently, and exercise good judgment.
• Must have excellent analytical skills, and a strong aptitude for detail.
• Must maintain a professional demeanor.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Requires good interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communications skills, and good listening skills.
• Possess a valid driver's license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background verification in accordance with WaterOne standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 20 pounds. The employee must be able to use a computer for multiple hours a day. The employee must be able to use office productivity equipment such as a personal computer, calculator, printer, and copy machine.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
