About the Role Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Universal Banker to join our team. The role is on‑site. The Universal Banker independently performs basic to moderately complex banking transactions, delivers excellent customer service, and maintains operational quality and accuracy, including cash balancing processes. Primary Responsibilities Transaction Processing – Performs routine teller transactions, accepts, verifies and processes customer transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, mail and drop transactions, and provides comprehensive deposit services. Opens and closes accounts (checking, savings, money markets, CDs, IRAs), assists with account maintenance, online and mobile banking, and resolves customer concerns. Customer Service & Sales – Interprets customer needs, recommends appropriate products and services, promotes deposit and lending products, conducts follow‑up calls, and provides courteous, professional service in person and over the phone. Cash Handling & Security – Maintains and balances cash supply, adheres to cash handling policies, reviews transactions for fraud, processes ATM and branch balances, and assists with opening/closing of the branch, following security procedures. Administrative & Compliance Tasks – Gathers data, processes compliance reports (Currency Transaction Reports, Reg.CC, holds, overdrafts), completes required training, reviews others’ work for compliance, and participates in monthly audit functions. Conducts daily branch balancing, cash orders, and other operational tasks to ensure regulatory compliance. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; additional experience may satisfy degree requirement. Minimum 2years of customer service experience. Minimum 1year of banking and cash‑handling experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of bank deposit and consumer loan products; basic knowledge of alternative bank services and vendor products. Strong persuasion and communication skills; ability to interpret policies and procedures. Travel required: 10–20% of the time.
