The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Nagaajiwanaang (Where the water stops), is one of the six Bands of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and a proud sovereign Ojibwe nation. Promote a positive school climate rooted in Ojibwe values, respect, and community responsibility. Support student attendance, behavior, and academic success through proactive intervention and mentorship. Implement restorative justice and culturally responsive discipline practices. Work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, special education staff, families, and tribal community members to support student needs. Serve as a liaison between students, families, administration, and community agencies. Coordinate student support plans, behavior interventions, and attendance improvement strategies. Supervise student conduct during school hours, transportation, extracurricular activities, and school events. Facilitate conflict resolution and problem-solving meetings with students and families. Maintain accurate student discipline and attendance records in compliance with school policies and federal/state regulations. Assist in crisis response, student safety planning, and wellness initiatives. Encourage student leadership, cultural participation, and community involvement. Support cultural programming, Ojibwe language revitalization efforts, seasonal activities, and traditional teachings. Participate in school improvement planning and staff professional development. Build trusting relationships with students through visibility, consistency, fairness, and mentorship. Community discussions about tribal schools frequently emphasize relationship-building, humility, and cultural respect as essential for school leadership. Collaborate with Elders, cultural advisors, and tribal education departments when appropriate. Displays a responsive and professional manner promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems. Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers. Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community. Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Valid Driver's License issued in the US is required. Eligibility determined by FDL's insurance company. Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, Social Work, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Knowledge of Ojibwe culture, traditions, history, and/or willingness to learn required. Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, outdoor spaces, and school activities required. Ability to travel for school activities, trainings, and community events required. Valid teaching or administrative license preferred. Experience working with Native American or Indigenous students and communities preferred. Experience with restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and student behavior support preferred. Strong communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and organizational skills preferred. Commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and student-centered leadership preferred. Experience in Tribal, Bureau of Indian Education, and/or culturally responsive educational settings preferred. Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, attendance intervention, and student support systems preferred. Has Ojibwe language knowledge or participation in language revitalization efforts preferred. Experience collaborating with Tribal agencies and community organizations preferred. Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required. Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required. Attention to detail and accuracy is required. Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved. Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation's Personnel Policies. Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks. Travel is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds is required.
