Stand-up Forklift Operator

The stand-up forklift operator is responsible for safely operating forklift while performing warehouse and material handling duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Forklift Operation : Drive the stand-up forklift and control the movement of lifting apparatus by moving levers and pressing pedals
• Material Handling : Position lifting forks under loaded pallets or skids, transport loads to designated areas, and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device
• Organization : Maintain material in an efficient and orderly manner by size and grade for easy retrieval
• Inventory Management : Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with materials as needed
• Inspection and Reporting : Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report findings to the supervisor
• Loading/Unloading : Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices
• Equipment Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance on the forklift, including lubricating the truck, recharging batteries, filling the fuel tank, or replacing the liquefied gas tank
• Additional Duties : Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support warehouse operations

Qualifications

• Certification : Valid active stand-up forklift certification.
• Communication : Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees, and to read and understand safety rules, operation, maintenance, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematics : Proficiency in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Instruction Compliance : Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Education and Experience :
  • 1-year certificate from a college or technical school; or
  • Three to six months of related experience; or
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in a related field
• Technical Skills : Ability to read and understand work orders and written instructions, utilize measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, and calipers, and use a computer to check stock and print tags
• Product Knowledge : Knowledge of products handled in the warehouse
• Banding Equipment : Ability to use banding equipment
• Physical Examination : Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Reliability : Demonstrated reliable work history
• Attention to Detail : Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks
