Senior Research Engineer - Thermal Fluid Systems

Salary: $113,000 - 153,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors, masters, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a directly related engineering field, with relevant work experience; a graduate degree may substitute for some work experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with thermal fluid system modeling and control.
• Graduate-level experience developing models and control algorithms for thermal fluid piping systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with Hysys, NPSS, Fluent, or similar software, or an interest in learning related software.
• Valid, clear drivers license.

• Model thermal fluid systems using one-dimensional finite volume or finite element principles, potentially with software such as Hysys, NPSS, or Fluent.
• Develop and validate simulations for thermal fluid system control strategies.
• Improve or optimize piping system designs using model feedback and applicable codes, including B31.3, B31.1, and ASME BPVC, while accounting for hazardous-area classifications.
• Analyze and optimize cycles for refrigeration, power generation, and refinery applications.
• Design and implement PID process controls for systems with single or multiple variables.
• Help model and control complex thermal fluid systems that include valves, piping, machinery, heat exchangers, and other fluid or gas components.
• Collaborate with our team to incorporate advanced control and monitoring strategies into test facilities and piping systems delivered to clients.
• Support efficient commissioning of power generation systems and components ranging from kilowatt to megawatt scale.
• Help diagnose and troubleshoot vendor piping systems and control issues.
• Prepare reports and present technical data to clients and industry peers.
