Description: The unit features 17 operating rooms and one emergency room bed. The unit is not designated as a trauma center. There is a total of 70 staff members in the department. Day shift staffing includes one scrub nurse and one circulator per room. Support technicians are available to assist with positioning and other duties. Most surgeons have a physician assistant, certified surgical technologist, or nurse practitioner to assist during surgery. Patient ratios, type of equipment, and electronic medical records system are focused on orthopedic care. Candidates without the required skills will not be considered for the role. Preferred candidates will be well versed in total joints and spine procedures. Typical procedures performed include large joint surgeries, hand and foot surgeries, scopes, and spine surgeries. Neurosurgery procedures are not performed in this unit. The dress code requires ciel blue scrubs, which are not provided by the facility. Employees report to work at 6:45 AM and participate in huddles on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Shifts end at 5:15 PM with no second-shift relief. Call duty is approximately four times per month from Monday to Friday only. The department has recognition for top employee and physician engagement. Patient satisfaction consistently exceeds 90%.
