EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS MANDATORY

• Current unrestricted Texas Dentist license through TDLR; current unrestricted DEA registration; NPI; American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification. All certifications must remain current during the assignment.

WORK EXPERIENCE MANDATORY

• Must be able to provide dental services including comprehensive, limited, and emergency exams; restorative procedures; simple extractions; crown preparations; denture cases; and complete oral rehabilitation alongside an anesthesia provider. Must be proficient with computers/electronic health records and comply with HHSC/SGSSLC standards and procedures.

WORK EXPERIENCE NICE TO HAVE

• Digital dentistry experience; advanced dental care; experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities; ability to work with minimal supervision; team environment; strong communication and organizational skills

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide comprehensive dental services to individuals residing at the San Angelo State Supported Living Center (SSLC) and certain identified individuals receiving services in community-based settings.
• Perform comprehensive dental examinations to assess patients' overall oral health and identify treatment needs.
• Conduct limited and emergency dental examinations and provide appropriate evaluation and treatment.
• Provide advanced dental care and treatment to improve and maintain the oral hygiene of individuals served by the facility.
• Perform restorative dental procedures as clinically appropriate.
• Perform simple dental extractions when required as part of the patient's treatment plan.
• Perform crown preparation procedures and support required restorative treatment.
• Provide and manage denture cases based on individual patient needs.
• Work collaboratively with an anesthesia provider to support complete oral rehabilitation when anesthesia services are required.
• Develop written treatment plans for patients and provide appropriate clinical justification for irreversible dental treatments.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation and charting of all clinical encounters using the facility's electronic medical and dental records.
• Provide dental care to residents with intellectual disabilities, taking into consideration their individual care and treatment needs.
• Apply best and safe practices in the delivery of dental treatment and patient care.
• Utilize digital dentistry capabilities as applicable to patient evaluation, treatment, documentation, and care.
• Demonstrate proficiency with computers and electronic health record (EHR) systems used to support clinical documentation and patient care.
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary/team environment, coordinating with facility staff, medical professionals, anesthesia providers, and other appropriate personnel.
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining appropriate clinical judgment, documentation, and adherence to facility requirements.
• Communicate clinical information clearly and effectively and be able to present patient/treatment information when required.
• Maintain strong organizational and communication skills to support timely patient care, documentation, and treatment planning.
• Comply with all applicable facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies.
• Follow applicable CMS Standards, SGSSLC Policies and Directives, and HHSC Standards, Rules, and Directives.
• Complete all required HHSC and facility training and maintain compliance with applicable facility requirements.
• Comply with required drug testing, fingerprinting, immunization, attendance, and leave policies before and during the assignment.
