Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: San Francisco, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Contract Dates: January 5, 2027 through June 15, 2027
• Assignment Length: Approximately 23 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Shift Options: Day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., or night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 4 patients per nurse
• Unit Profile: Pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant care, along with select pediatric surgical specialties
• Orientation: 48 hours, including onboarding and clinical preceptorship
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 4 weekend shifts during the assignment
• Charting: Epic
• Floating: Travelers may be asked to float to another department, unit, or nearby facility when qualified

Pediatric Oncology RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of registered nursing experience
• At least 1 year of recent inpatient pediatric oncology nursing experience
• Recent experience in a tertiary-level teaching hospital strongly preferred
• Bone marrow transplant experience preferred; strong pediatric hematology/oncology experience will be considered
• Active California Registered Nurse license in hand
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• APHON certification
• Demonstrated proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic medical record systems
• Ability to provide two professional references from a recent employer

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant patients.
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and other specialized treatments in accordance with established protocols.
• Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies, changes in patient condition, and pediatric early warning indicators.
• Manage central lines, implanted ports, peripheral IVs, urinary catheters, NG tubes, oxygen delivery systems, and other supportive devices.
• Apply neutropenic precautions, isolation procedures, infection-prevention measures, and safe body-fluid handling practices.
• Perform pediatric assessments, medication and dosage calculations, symptom management, and pain and palliative care interventions.
• Support nutritional therapies, including TPN and lipids, while monitoring treatment response and potential complications.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, respiratory services, IV teams, social services, rehabilitation, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and patient education in Epic.
• Participate in floating assignments as needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care.
