Job Summary
Design new, modify, or improve components and assemblies in accordance with engineering standards
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop new components, weldments, assemblies, and product improvements using 3D CAD software.
- Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and other engineering documentation.
- Generate and maintain manufacturing routers and product configuration data.
- Document and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and design revisions.
- Apply engineering standards, design guidelines, and drafting practices to all work.
- Assist with new product development projects from concept through production release.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering problem-solving activities.
- Select, specify, and evaluate mechanical and purchased components for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Work closely with production personnel to support manufacturing, assembly, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in troubleshooting product, production, and field performance issues.
- Support prototype builds, testing activities, and design validation efforts.
- Review and assist with technical manuals, product literature, and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, technical support, and service teams to resolve technical issues and improve products.
- Maintain engineering records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of mechanical design experience
- Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and related experience will be considered.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software and the creation of detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to create and interpret 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, schematics, and product documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing mobile equipment, industrial equipment, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or other heavy machinery.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with welded fabrications, machined components, and large assemblies.
- Familiarity with engineering change control processes and ECO systems.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting new product development and product improvement projects.
