Lifeguard

We have an immediate need for a full-time Lifeguard to join the team at one of United Group's professionally managed multi‑family housing communities located in Syracuse, NY . This position will report directly to the Property Manager and will be responsible for ensuring a safe and pleasant environment at the pool. The Lifeguard enforces rules, monitors guest access, and reports maintenance or safety concerns to the Property Manager. Opening & Closing Duties Opens the pool each shift and closes it down each evening, depending on schedule and hours Ensures pool gates are unlocked at the beginning of the shift/locked at the end of the shift Ensures all umbrellas are either put up or taken down at the beginning/end of shift Ensures all pool furniture is staged/placed neatly at the beginning/during/end of shift Cleanliness & Maintenance Ensures the pool area, poolside patio, and outdoor bathroom are clean of all garbage/debris during and at the end of shift Ensures the pool itself stays clean at all times of debris, dirt, and trash – vacuum and skim as necessary Safety & Monitoring Monitors pool-related activities closely throughout shift and identifies any safety issues Directs swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions Monitors weather reports closely to ensure the safety of guests Ensures all residents and guests comply with Property pool rules and regulations (form signed at move‑in) Check/sign‑in and out all residents and guests Job Overview + Requirements Work Hours: Full‑Time with variable shifts & weekends: i.e., 10am – 8pm & 11am – 7pm. Training for Position: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED. Certifications: Must have a current & valid Lifeguard Certification, as well as First Aid, CPR, & AED. Physical Requirements: Ability to swim at an experienced & advanced level; can perform life‑saving measures as needed. Required Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a Lifeguard. Qualities: Demonstrates integrity on a personal and professional level; exceptional communication, sales, and negotiation skills; ability to solve problems involving residents and challenging situations.
