Come grow with us! Description: Sylvamo’s Sheet Plant in Sumter, South Carolina currently has an opening for a Plant Manager. This facility converts rolls of paper and packages them for end-use customers. The Plant Manager is responsible for providing leadership to 130 team members and managing resources to maximize safety, quality, cost, productivity and earnings. The Plant Manager creates a vision for the facility that aligns with the business and corporate vision, and sets direction for goals and objectives and establishes and maintains positive relationships with customers and the sales team. Sylvamo has approved a large capital investment at the Sumter Sheet Plant, which includes adding a 13‑pocket sheeter and expanding warehousing. The Sumter Plant Manager is a member of the Eastover Mill Lead Team and reports to the Eastover Mill Manager. Key Accountabilities: Sustain safe work processes to prevent injuries at the plant. Establish an operating environment that embraces continuous improvement processes achieved through team‑based initiatives with particular focus applied to plant goals and scorecard measures. Reliable operation of sheeters and all operating processes. Ensure production equipment is maintained and upgraded to remain competitive within our market. Directly support, respond to and enhance key strategic customer relationships and requirements. Ensure that all federal, state and local regulations are followed. Support and contribute to the professional development of all facility leadership for succession planning and cross‑functional needs. Maintain constant communication with the facility lead team through daily production meetings, weekly lead team meetings and one‑on‑ones. Generate input on new equipment purchases for the plant as well as any major modifications of existing equipment. Provide accurate process performance measures to facility leadership and all employees. Measures will be reflected in the financial roadmap which is reported periodically to division leadership. Developing a multi‑skilled workforce that embraces change. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED plus at least one year of accredited post‑high‑school education in management, engineering, or related field preferred. 6‑9 years of experience as a manufacturing manager. Must be a self‑starter, highly motivated, and be able to work under pressure with changing deadlines. Experience leading and sustaining safety processes. Experience leading and sustaining reliable operations. Knowledge of inventory management. Knowledge of printing and paper manufacturing. Knowledge of, and experience complying with, local and corporate policies. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership ability. Team and goal oriented. Analytical problem‑solver. Flexible hours/available to work extended hours and respond on short notice. High level of business acumen. Demonstrated experience dealing with ambiguity, including direct contact with sales and customers and a cooperative relationship with sales, product development, and graphics. Demonstrated experience dealing with customers and corporate management, including availability for periodic travel. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business, management, engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience as a manufacturing manager; preferably in the paper converting industry.
