Title RN II (CCCA) Responsibilities The Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents, a Children’s Psychiatric Hospital, is seeking experienced nurses to fill the RN II position. The Registered Nurse is responsible for skillfully assessing children for medical and mental health concerns when admitted for acute psychiatric care and reporting accurate information to the psychiatrist. The nurse will help direct medication and treatment decisions for patients. Compensation includes: Starting Pay $84,418 (varies by experience) – includes Shift Differential Premium Maximum $25,000 bonus for newly hired registered nurses who stay for 2 years $15,000 sign‑on bonus with a one‑year written agreement $10,000 retention bonus paid one year after hire with a one‑year written agreement Shift differentials: 1st shift weekend: $5.50 per hour 2nd shift weekday: $5.50 per hour / 2nd shift weekend/holidays: $6.00 per hour 3rd shift weekday: $4.00 per hour / 3rd shift weekend/holidays: $7.00 per hour State benefits include: 13 paid holidays, 12+ paid vacation days, 9 paid sick days, 4+ paid family personal days per year Family Medical Leave, short- and long-term disability coverage Low-cost Anthem or AETNA health insurance, group life and optional life insurance, flexible reimbursement accounts Other state benefits include: Internships, career ladders and continuing education opportunities Referral bonuses Student loan repayment opportunities Virginia 529 college savings plan (may be available) Relocation reimbursement (may be available) State employee discounts and more Minimum Qualifications Effective communication both verbal and written; able to participate in an interdisciplinary team; able to lead educational groups. Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric disorders, and the physical, psychological, and social needs of psychiatric adolescents or children. Competence with TOVA, CPR, and knowledge of lab values for children & adolescents; basic computer skills. Ability to apply nursing process knowledge to meet child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric needs; serve as a resource for other disciplines, community groups, and nursing schools. Walking and/or standing for up to eight (8) hours or more; bending & lifting; ability to use TOVA techniques; may be exposed to aggressive patients.
