Associate Attorney

Role Description The Associate Attorney will handle a range of legal matters, including client consultations, case assessment, and ongoing representation. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, and other legal documents, and providing clear legal advice under supervision as needed. The role also involves participating in negotiations, attending hearings or mediations, and managing case files to ensure deadlines and court requirements are met. The Associate Attorney will collaborate with the principal attorney and support staff, communicate regularly with clients, and contribute to strategy development for labor and employment and other relevant matters. This is a full‑time hybrid role based in Columbia, MD, with some flexibility for work from home as appropriate. Qualifications Strong foundation in Law and Labor and Employment Law, with the ability to analyze statutes, case law, and regulations. Demonstrated ability to provide Legal Advice, including issue‑spotting, risk assessment, and clear communication of legal options. Proficient in legal Research using electronic databases and other resources, and in organizing findings into actionable guidance. Effective Negotiation skills, including client advocacy in settlement discussions, mediations, and other dispute‑resolution settings. Active license to practice law, or eligibility for admission, in Maryland (or commitment to obtain Maryland licensure promptly). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and strong drafting abilities. Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. Commitment to professional ethics, client confidentiality, and respectful, inclusive collaboration with colleagues and clients.
