The Department of Surgery at our organization is on the lookout for a full-time faculty member (In-Residence) to fill the role of Critical Care Surgeon, at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position offers a unique chance to engage in the education of residents and medical students. Join us as we elevate our Critical Care/Surgery program within a vibrant and expanding institution.

The selected candidate will be accountable for clinical services, educational activities, and clinical research.

• As part of the Critical Care Unit (Surgical ICU), you will be involved in the clinical management of surgical patients within a closed critical care environment. In this capacity, you will report directly to the Chair of Surgery.

• Within the Department of Surgery, you will conduct consultations and admit surgical patients to the hospital, in addition to providing outpatient care. You will also report to the Chair of the Department of Surgery in this role.

• Contribute to the administration and leadership of:

  • The Critical Care Unit, as required by the ICU Director.

  • The establishment of a Level 3 trauma center at the hospital, as directed by the Chair of Surgery.

  • The creation of protocols and clinical pathways for emergency general surgical services, including an Emergency General Surgery and Trauma follow-up clinic.

  • The Department of Surgery, as instructed by the Chair of Surgery.

• Ensure adherence to the policies and procedures of our organization.

• Engage in the supervision and training of Critical Care APRNs and Surgery PAs.

• Instruct medical students, residents, and fellows at the hospital and outpatient clinic.

• Participate in research and scholarly endeavors.

• Completion of a Surgery Residency.

• Board certified or eligible in Surgical Critical Care.

• Board certified or eligible in Surgery.

• At least one year of fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care.
