Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantA well-established and growing organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team in New Haven, CT area. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong accounting foundation who wants broader exposure within a large, multi-entity organization.The Senior Accountant will be involved in the monthly close, journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, leases, tax-related activities, and general accounting support. The position will also work closely with other areas of the business and participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post monthly journal entriesAssist with month-end close and financial reporting activitiesPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliationsResearch and resolve accounting discrepanciesManage accounting for fixed assets and leasesAssist with sales and tax-related reporting and complianceProvide accounting support related to pricing, invoicing, and transaction codingSupport Accounts Payable and other general accounting activities as neededPartner with internal departments to research and resolve financial questionsAssist with special projects and ad hoc financial reportingIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controlsWork collaboratively with the broader accounting and finance team to meet reporting deadlinesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field2+ years of professional accounting experienceStrong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principlesExperience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliationsStrong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUPComfortable working with multiple financial systems and large amounts of dataStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively with different departments and business partnersPreferred ExperienceExperience within a larger, multi-entity or multi-location organizationManufacturing experience is a plus, but not requiredExposure to ERP and financial reporting systemsExperience with tools such as Power BI, Oracle, Hyperion, OneStream, JD Edwards, or similar platforms is helpful
