Job Summary
Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse in Rikers. This role involves providing direct bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients within a correctional health setting. The position requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in accordance with healthcare protocols and standards.

Job Details

• Position Description: Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans; providing bedside nursing care; preparing and administering medications; changing dressings; inserting catheters and starting IVs; adjusting specialized medical equipment; monitoring vitals and reporting adverse reactions; collaborating on discharge planning; educating patients and families about surgical procedures and post-care; maintaining and updating medical records.
• Required Qualifications: Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute; New York State RN License & Primary Source Verification; AHA BLS; AHA ACLS (Queens only); Minimum two (2) years Med/Surg experience in an acute care hospital or Post Acute Facility setting, with recent experience within the past year; experience in physical assessment, medication administration, wound care & infection control, IV therapy, post-operative care, patient education, telemetry monitoring.
• Schedule: Nights shift - 8:00 PM to 8:30 AM, 3 shifts per week, Monthly scheduling, minimum of 34.5 hours per week.
• Preferred Qualifications: EPIC EMR experience.
• Additional Information: Candidate must be available to work every other weekend. Role is based in Rikers, PREA and DOC is required. Please indicate shift availability and weekend confirmation in the submission cover sheet.
