Responsible for installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in the industrial establishment. Responsibilities include promoting and complying with all company and safety policies and procedures, reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools, moving machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks, assembling and installing equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools, constructing foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement and steel, aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs, assembling machines and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastening them to foundation or other structures using hand and power tools, operating engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications, repairing and lubricating machines and equipment, selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved, attaching pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms using bolts and clamps, attaching load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook, setting up, bracing and rigging hoisting equipments using hand tools and power wrenches, splicing rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle, and may direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment and may be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice. Other duties as assigned by foreman or superintendent.
Qualifications: Education and work experience requirements include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, one to three years related experience and/or training, welding experience preferred. Knowledge, skills and abilities required include taking reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles, reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, computing rate, ratio and percent, working within precise limits or standards of accuracy, following instructions and reading blueprints, looking at flat drawings or pictures and visualizing how they would look as solid objects, working at heights without fear, using logical step-by-step procedures in work plan work and solving problems, making decisions based on measurable information; performing a variety of duties which may change often and operating machinery.
