Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity offers a leadership role as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a behavioral health facility specializing in mental health care. The position is a 6-8 week contract, providing critical pharmacy oversight and operational management Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, with additional on-call duties after each shift and on weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the PIC, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and pharmacy standards
- Oversee medication order verification using the HCS order entry system
- Support and manage pharmacy staff including one full-time technician and several part-time and per-diem personnel
- Participate in meetings and pharmacy and therapeutics (P&T) data collection efforts
- Facilitate pharmacy workflow while relieving existing staff workload
- Engage in site-specific training with experienced team members
- Collaborate with the behavioral health care team while maintaining a professional and compliant pharmacy environment
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current New Jersey Pharmacist license required
- Proven experience with HCS order entry system strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Omnicell automation technology is advantageous
- Background in behavioral health pharmacy services considered a plus
- Experience with policy development and regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission standards)
- Ability to fulfill PIC responsibilities at a minimum of 35 hours per week
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

- Conveniently near Newark Airport for ease of travel if needed

This role is a contract assignment aimed at experienced pharmacy leaders ready to provide vital operational guidance and staff support within a specialized behavioral health setting.
