Trailer Mechanic

Trailer MechanicAs a trailer technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate maintenance, service and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers and other equipment. Under routine supervision, you must be able to troubleshoot issues and complete all fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspectionsTroubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelinesAssist with the onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician traineesParticipate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairsUnderstand and effectively follow all shop safety proceduresMaintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customersMinimum Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalentAND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiencesAt least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakesAble to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase programWillingness to work outdoors in the elementsAble to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if neededPreferred Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalentBasic welding skills (MIG and stick)Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediumsAbility to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamProficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectivelyAbility to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)Shift Schedule: Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs.In addition to the company benefits listed below, the maintenance team will also have access to:Career growth opportunitiesCompany-provided uniforms and annual boot programSafety culture with bonus incentivesTechnicians can gain new skills and grow their opportunities through J.B.
