Austin Industrial is currently seeking a HVAC Technician to join our staff located at Franklin, VA. The technician must be able to perform installs, repairs, and maintenance to a variety of equipment including: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, and packaged units throughout the district. Other duties may be assigned. EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification required, must have 5+ years of supervisor experience, manage and continuously evaluate maintenance program requirements and records, maintain good customer and employee relations, and demonstrate strong leadership skills. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Diagnose, repair, and install plant mechanical systems in the pulp and paper manufacturing industry. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as conveyors and presses. Read mechanical prints and diagrams, including HVAC systems. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Experience – 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Critical thinking, predictive and preventative maintenance, finding root cause of failure. Work positively with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems. Excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work alone, with a partner, or as a member of a team maintaining safety, quality, and productivity. Engage in preventative maintenance processes throughout the facility. Willingness to cross‑train and learn new skills in other technical areas to enhance capabilities. Able to work with a computer system for maintenance processes, stores, and work orders. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license. HVAC certification required. Meet the physical demands as listed above. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment. Applicants must be legally able to work for any employer in the United States.
