Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) | Every other weekend required | 2 out of 3 major holidays or as needed based on unit needs

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med Surg ICU setting serving adult and pediatric patients (15+ years) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries
• Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilators
• Read and interpret cardiac monitoring independently using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry (no monitor techs on unit)
• Maintain and manage lines and monitoring including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, and ICP monitoring
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify eligibility
• Candidates currently working full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity) are not eligible
• All requested time off (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional time off will not be approved after submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with CRRT, Impella, or intra-aortic balloon pump
• Familiarity with neurosurgical or neuro-interventional patient populations
• Experience with hypothermia protocols (e.g., Zoll Thermoguard) or rapid transfusion devices
• Strong critical thinking skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach to patient care
