Field Service Technician II - Manufacturing & Industrial Equipment (US)

Full-Time • Travel Required (Employer-Provided Travel) – Position Scope The Field Service Technician II is a hands‑on role supporting manufacturing operations by installing, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and related systems. The Lead executes all work assigned by the Primary Supervisor, provides daily support to the Supervisor, and oversees entry‑level technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality field operations. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and the professionalism to represent FPS on job sites. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills will be supported through paid training and ongoing development opportunities. Key Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment and systems with limited supervision Diagnose mechanical and operational issues, identify root causes, and perform corrective actions Modify, fabricate, or adapt parts as needed to complete repairs and improve performance Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life Maintain accurate documentation of service work, repairs, and parts usage Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe, organized work area for self and others Travel to job sites as required and meet project deadlines that may limit time off during active assignments Represent FPS with professionalism at all times, maintaining a positive attitude, appropriate appearance, and respectful communication with clients and coworkers Work extended or overtime hours as necessary to meet installation, service, or production requirements Required Qualifications & Skills Strong mechanical background with proficiency in the use of hand and power tools Welding experience and ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hands‑on work for extended periods in a fast‑paced environment Ability to responsibly use a cell phone to communicate and coordinate work‑related information while on assignment Basic math skills for measurements, alignment, and equipment setup Reliability, accountability, and strong attention to detail Effective communication with supervisors, team members, and clients to ensure project clarity and safety compliance Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to entry‑level technicians, demonstrating proper techniques, safety practices, and professional conduct Perform other related duties as assigned to support production, maintenance, and field service operations Leadership Role & Supervisor Support The Lead will: Execute all work defined and assigned by the Primary Supervisor Provide direct support to the Supervisor in task coordination and quality control Oversee and mentor entry‑level technicians to maintain safety and performance standards Help maintain proper workflow, documentation, and job‑site organization Training & Development Opportunities FPS provides paid training to support advanced skill development through hands‑on, in‑field experiences, including: Troubleshooting and diagnostics Welding and fabrication skill development Forklift and telehandler operation training Mechanical systems and equipment training Team coordination training Compensation & Benefits FPS offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including: Full medical coverage Dental benefits Paid vacation Employer‑provided travel for all required job assignments FPS Food Process Solutions is an equal opportunity employer, and we thank you for your interest in the position.
